Shoulder & Elbow
Anatomy of the Shoulder
The shoulder is a complex ball-and-socket joint that gives full movement of the arms, allowing patients to reach up high, down low and side to side.
It offers a wide range of motion, but also makes it vulnerable to injury.
Shoulder Arthroscopy
An arthroscope is a device that is inserted into the joint. The arthroscope includes a tiny camera that is connected to a screen used by Dr Biggs to see inside your shoulder joint.
If necessary other surgical instruments are inserted through additional small incisions. These other instruments can be used to perform repair or removal of material from the joint.
Shoulder Impingement
The shoulder is a complex ball-and-socket joint that allows full movement of the arm.
It offers a wide range of motion, but also makes ist vulnerable to injury.
At the shoulder, three major bones meet and create a 90-degree angle.
Rotator Cuff Tear
The rotator cuff is made up of four muscles that help move and stabilize the shoulder joint.
The four rotator cuff muscles include the:
- Supraspinatus
- Infraspinatus
- Subscapularis
- Teres minor
Shoulder Instability
The shoulder is a complex ball-and-socket joint that allows full movement of the arm.
It offers a wide range of motion, but is vulnerable to injury.
At the shoulder, three major bones meet and create a 90-degree angle. These bones are the collarbone (clavicle), the shoulder blade (scapula) - commonly known as the shoulder blade and the humerus.
Frozen Shoulder
The shoulder is a complex ball-and-socket joint that allows full movement of the arm.
It offers a wide range of motion, but also makes it vulnerable to injury.
At the shoulder, three major bones meet and create a 90-degree angle.
Collarbone Fractures
The clavicle, which is commonly known as the collarbone, is the bone found on both sides of the chest that connects the sternum of breastbone to both shoulders.
The clavicle sits above several important nerves and blood vessels.
Shoulder Joint Replacement
The shoulder is a complex ball-and-socket joint that allows full movement of the arm.
It offers a wide range of motion, but also makes it vulnerable to injury.
At the shoulder, three major bones meet and create a 90-degree angle.
